As we fly by three months since opening the doors of our new gift shop in Foristell, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the journey so far. These past months have been a whirlwind of excitement, learning, and transition. Opening a new business always comes with challenges, but the rewards have been plentiful and heartwarming. The Grand Opening: A Day to Remember

I’m still riding on cloud 9 from the grand opening; it still feels like yesterday. The anticipation and preparation culminated in a day filled with many incredible moments. We were overwhelmed by the turnout and the warm welcome from the community. Seeing our vision come to life and watching customers explore our carefully curated selection of gifts was incredibly fulfilling. The positive feedback and encouragement we received set a hopeful and enthusiastic tone for the months ahead. I am still in awe.

Building a New Tribe

One of our primary goals in opening this gift shop was to create a space that felt more than just a store. We wanted it to be a place where you feel comfortable and welcome, where people could find unique, thoughtful gifts while also being close to home. Making people feel at home is so important to us. We also plan to create fun and interactive classes to bring people together and help us build meaningful connections within the surrounding communities.

We’re Good Listeners

Running a new business is a continuous learning process. We’ve spent these first few months attentively listening to customer feedback and observing what you are looking for. Your insights have been invaluable in helping us tailor our inventory to meet your needs and preferences better. This personal approach has allowed us to grow and adapt, ensuring that we provide the best possible experience for our customers.

Celebrating Milestones

Every small business has its milestones, and we’ve been thrilled to celebrate several in these initial months. From welcoming our 100th customer to receiving our first batch of five-star reviews, each milestone has reminded us why we embarked on this fantastic journey. We’ve also enjoyed collaborating with local businesses and artisans, forming partnerships that enrich our product offerings and strengthen our ties within the community.

Learning from the Challenges

Of course, no journey is without its challenges. We decided to be in a non-foot traffic industrial area, which means you are coming to see us purposefully. Because of this, we have to work harder to get our name out there. However, each challenge we have faced has been an opportunity to learn and grow. Our customers’ support has been incredible and motivated us to keep pushing forward.

Looking Ahead

As we look ahead to the fourth quarter, we are optimistic and excited about what’s to come. We have many things in the works, including expanding our product lines, hosting more community events and classes, and growing our online presence. Our focus remains on providing exceptional service and unique, high-quality gifts.

From Basement Studio to Beautiful Storefront

As many of you know, The Personal Gifting Co. has officially moved into its new home in Foristell, Missouri. It’s been a month since the move, and I still walk through the front door in awe and disbelief that this beautiful space is our new gift shop.

The Journey

The renovations on the building began in November of 2023 (during our busiest time of the year) and were completed in early spring. The building originally was a lawn equipment shop and needed a little TLC before we could move in. The walls were cinder blocks, and the smell of gasoline and grass were the signature scents. We put up walls, tore down the ceiling, exposed the beautiful metal trusses, added a lovely new restroom, and installed new floors, lights, and doors – a complete remodel. There was a space outside that I wanted to give some life to, so we added tables and chairs with our branded umbrellas. This space is great when we have events. During these months of renovation, I worked with my amazingly talented and patient husband on what we wanted the space to look and feel like, and he was able to take my vision for the space and bring it to life.

Once A Dream: The Personal Gifting Co

As a home-based business for over 20 years, moving into the new storefront was quite a significant change for me. It was scary and beautiful all at the same time. I had a beautiful workspace in my home, but unfortunately, it was just for me; I could not share it with everyone as I wanted to. I used to dream about this day: unlocking the front doors, turning on the lights, turning on my bomb music playlist, lighting a candle, and welcoming visitors into my shop, and now it’s my reality and a dream come true. This space has allowed my business to grow almost overnight. I’m so excited to be in a space that:

Has a warm, home-like vibe and is welcoming.
Has just enough square footage for us to handle the online orders.
Is aesthetically pleasing and a great space for classes and get-togethers. It is also an excellent environment for enhancing creativity and productivity.

I appreciate all of you who have walked this journey with us; I cannot thank you enough. Thank you to all who came out to the ribbon cutting, soft openings, and grand opening or simply stop by to say hi; your support and encouraging words mean the world to me. And thank you for referring my business to your colleagues, family, and friends. We’ve had so many people stop by and say they learned about the shop from one of our clients.

Looking back, we’ve come pretty far since the days of working out of the studio in my basement. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and none of this would have been possible without all of you. So, from the bottom of my heart, I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
